About Landour Heritage Walk
Landour, a picturesque cantonment town near Mussoorie in Uttarakhand, India, has a rich and intriguing history rooted in the colonial era. Established by the British in the early 19th century, Landour was initially developed as a place for soldiers to recover from illness. The cool climate and lovely scenery made it perfect for this purpose. The name “Landour” comes from a village in Wales called “Llanddowror.”
As we walk through its charming streets lined with old buildings and cozy cafes, we’ll follow in the footsteps of beloved writer Ruskin Bond, who captured the heart of Landour in his stories. Along the journey, we’ll meet locals deeply connected to the town, carrying on traditions passed down through generations.
